The White Mountain National Forest consists of 750,000 acres and is home to the Presidential Mountain Range and 48 major peaks over 4,000 ft.
Only slightly further afield, about an hour and one-half drive, are the exquisite Atlantic Ocean beach towns of Ogunquit and Kennebunk Maine.
The area is a treasure trove of attractions from hiking and boating and fishing to summer theater, arts & crafts, antique fairs and micro-breweries.
Accommodations are plentiful around the corner in Tamworth and in the nearby towns of Center Harbor, Moultonborough, Meredith, Wolfeboro and Conway. The area has an extensive network of B&B’s, hotels and private rentals.
